Punakha lodge lies in a valley with a uniquely sub-tropical climate. It can be reached by a suspension bridge over the Mo Chhu River. A traditional Bhutanese farmhouse built by a former chief abbot sits on this property. The suites are identical to those at Paro, with views of an orange orchard and rice terraces that can also be seen while taking a dip in the infinity pool.
Four suites each are housed in the additional two-story block. Each Mo Chhu Suite can be combined to create a 2-bedroom unit. A converted old farmhouse serves as the dining room and extends to an outdoor deck. Two stories have been dedicated to the spa complete with a yoga and meditation room, two treatment rooms, a steam room and changing areas. Try a holistic facial with locally sourced products such as homemade yoghurt, Bumthang honey and orange when here.
