The select 28-acre venue for guests invited back in the day to attend the coronation of His Majesty the King Jigme Singye Wangchuk, Hotel Olathang, established in 1974 was formerly owned and run by Bhutan Tourism Corporation.
Now a privately run estate, it is among Bhutan’s largest hotels sprawling over acres and acres of wooded land situated atop a hill overlooking the visually stunning and historically fascinating Paro valley.
Guests can check themselves into any one of the 26 rooms in the central building or in one of the 33 rooms in the picturesque cottages spread over pine-forested stretches of land. Other facilities include a well-equipped conference center with a seating capacity of 250 guests.
A splendid dining hall can accommodate up to 100 guests. The restaurant serves an array of continental, Chinese, Indian and Bhutanese cuisine prepared by highly qualified chefs. Catering and banquet services are also offered. A well-stocked bar displays a wide selection of international and local beverages.
