It’s been a whirlwind
trip around Asia, but for three of us Bhutan was clearly the sweet spot.
Funny that it all
began with a meltdown and an ultimatum. Since these guys I practically grew up
with were so busy with their lives, I’d booked a vacation around Asia for us,
so that we could all take a break together -an all-girls vacay like before when
we got busy with our own lives.
Then, all hell broke
loose. Mad fights, arguments and some crying went down before everybody
realized that it was a good thing that I did after all.Work was put on hold,
chores were handed over to trusted help, a boyfriend and a husband; and we
headed out to Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, India and Bhutan. We lived the
good life - beaches, pub-hopping, having delicious food, experiencing so many
cultures and never-before experiences, shopping like crazy and winding down in Bhutan.
This place is so amazing! It has the most calming effect on you.
In Bhutan, we dropped
in at almost every café and dzong we could possibly visit. There aren’t too
many pubs around here but you won’t miss much. And none of us are smokers, so
that was good. Smoking is not appreciated and also banned in some places in
that country, I think. Since, there was an animal-lover among us who went nuts
over the way a government cares for its wildlife, we did end up checking out
quite a few wildlife sanctuaries too. It’s all so amazing in Bhutan. People are
well dressed and polite! There are cars, but no traffic stops and no one’s
seems to be in a rush. It’s just beautiful. The hotels are really, really nice.
I did not expect it, but they are as good as some of the best places I’ve
stayed at, even the smaller hotels are clean and well maintained.
favourite part were the herbal treatments that I had done in Bhutan.Very
professional, very relaxing and I think it did me a world of good. If you’ve
not been, you must plan a visit to Bhutan sometime soon.
Good things can also
begin with ultimatums. Just say the magic words –
